Professions and camping in WoW: Forever — why a camp needs three of you
Over 600 new recipes, and a campfire that holds three objects with one per player. The second half of that sentence is the one that changes how you pick a profession.

Over 600 new recipes — and that is the less interesting half
Blizzard's own figure: "Professions are also gaining more depth, with over 600 new recipes across professions and level ranges."
Six hundred recipes spread across every profession and the whole 1–60 range is a lot of new things to make, and almost none of it changes how you play. It is more of what professions already were.
Camping is the part that changes the shape of the thing, and it is why this page exists. Blizzard describes it as "Camping, which lets you craft campfires in the outdoor world so other adventurers can stop by, contribute through professions, and share campsite buffs."
Read the verbs: stop by, contribute, share. A profession in Forever is not only something you level — it is something you bring to other people.

What a campsite actually is
"Placing a campfire creates a campsite where players can rest and gain access to useful benefits such as vendors, repairs, profession workspaces, and one-hour buffs."
Vendors and repairs, in the outdoor world, without going back to a city. For a group levelling in a zone with a long ride to the nearest town, that is not a small convenience — it is the difference between running back and not.
One hour is the number to plan around. A camp is not permanent and it is not instant to rebuild, so it wants to be placed where the group will still be in forty minutes.

Three objects, one per player — this is the whole design
This is the sentence that should decide which profession you level:
"A Basic Campfire allows up to three special crafted objects to be added by nearby players. Each player can contribute one object, and those objects share a one-hour cooldown."
One object each. You cannot fill your own camp. A fully-buffed Basic Campfire is three different people with three different professions standing in the same place at the same time.
And the buffs are profession-specific: "Blacksmiths, for example, can place a Sharpening Wheel that increases Attack Power, Tailors can place a Faction Banner that increases Spirit, and Herbalists can place an Incense Candle that increases Intellect."
Attack power, spirit, intellect. Those go to different characters. Which means the best three-object camp is not three of the strongest objects — it is three objects chosen for who is standing in the camp.
What this actually means for picking a profession: the usual advice is to pick for your own character. Camping rewards picking for your group — being the one who brings the thing nobody else has. If four of you are levelling together and three are Blacksmiths, one of those three is contributing nothing at the fire.
Every profession has something to bring: "Every profession has three different objects learned at different skill levels, and each profession provides its own buff or utility no matter which object is placed." There is no wrong profession here. There is only a duplicated one.

Skill 20 is the gate — and it is low
"The first campsite objects are learned once a profession reaches skill level 20, either from special nonplayer characters (NPCs) who introduce players to camping or from profession trainers, while more advanced objects come from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses."
Skill 20 is nearly nothing — it is the first afternoon with a profession, not a project. So the entry price for being useful at a camp is genuinely small, and there is no reason for a levelling group to reach level 30 with nobody able to place anything.
Two sources for the first objects, which is worth knowing because they are easy to miss: the camping NPCs, and your ordinary profession trainer. If you have been to your trainer and seen nothing, check your skill is actually at 20.

The good objects come out of dungeons
From the same sentence: "more advanced objects come from Blueprint recipes that drop from specific dungeon bosses."
This is the join between this page and the rest of this site. Your profession stops levelling in a quiet corner of the world the moment you want the good camp objects — those are behind five-man content, on named bosses.
What is not published: which bosses, which dungeons, which blueprints. We have found no list, and we are not going to invent one. If you are in the beta and you have seen a Blueprint drop, that is genuinely useful information and almost nobody has written it down yet.
What you can do now: know that "level my profession" and "run dungeons" are the same errand in Forever, and plan them together rather than as two separate evenings.

Cooking raises the ceiling from three to ten
The three-object limit is the Basic Campfire. It is not the maximum.
"Alchemists can learn to place an Alchemy Lab, Leatherworkers can place a Tanning Rack required for more advanced Leatherworking recipes, and Cooks can learn upgraded Campfires that allow five or 10 objects to be placed at a camp."
Three things worth pulling out of that:
- Cooking is the camp-size profession. Upgraded campfires taking five or ten objects means a Cook is what turns a three-person camp into a raid's camp. Cooking has been a throwaway secondary profession for twenty years; here it decides how big the fire is.
- The Tanning Rack is "required for more advanced Leatherworking recipes." That is a profession whose own progression runs through a camp — you cannot fully level it without placing things where people gather.
- A ten-object camp needs ten contributors, by the one-each rule above. At that size the camp is an event, not a convenience.

Post a camp, and say which professions it still needs
A camp is the most naturally social thing in Forever and the hardest to organise by shouting in a chat channel, because what it needs is specific: not five people, but five people with five different professions.
"LFM camp" gets you three Blacksmiths. What works is saying what the fire already has and what it does not:
- A Basic Campfire with a Sharpening Wheel and an Incense Candle has one slot left, and it wants somebody who is not a Blacksmith or a Herbalist.
- A Cook with an upgraded campfire is offering five or ten slots and needs the people to fill them.
- A Leatherworker who needs a Tanning Rack placed is not asking for a favour, they are asking for the thing their profession is gated behind.
Post it as a profession meetup, say where the fire is and what is missing, and the person with the one profession you lack can find you. That is a much easier ask than it sounds, and nowhere in the game will tell you who is nearby with what.
Caveat worth keeping: Forever is in beta until 21 October and Blizzard is explicit that camping rules are still moving. Object counts, cooldowns and skill gates on this page are what is published now, not what is guaranteed at launch.
