Maraudon — three entrances, and the one that skips half the dungeon

   Agree which portal before anyone flies to Desolace

   There are three ways in, and they are not interchangeable:

   • Orange side — "Following this path will eventually lead you to the orange side dungeon portal."
   • Purple side — "Following this path will eventually lead you to the purple side dungeon portal. Stay on the upper level at all times to reach the portal – don't jump down or take any downward ramps."
   • The middle gate — "In the middle is a gate that leads to the place where you can use the Scepter of Celebras to teleport inside the dungeon to the Earth Song Falls area."

   Five people who each picked a different portal are not in the same instance. That is the whole reason this page exists, and it is a conversation that costs nothing beforehand and an evening afterwards.

   Note the purple-side warning is a route instruction, not a preference: dropping down a ramp on the way there puts you somewhere else.

   The Scepter of Celebras skips the first half

   "The Scepter of Celebras is a very useful item to have if you're going to be farming Maraudon, as it allows you to teleport directly to the Earth Song Falls part of the instance and skip the earlier bosses."

   This is a time machine for anyone running it more than once. The first run is the long one; every run after it, for whoever holds a scepter, starts past the part you already know.

   The planning point: a group where one person has it and four do not gains nothing — everyone needs their own to take that portal. So if this is a dungeon your group intends to repeat, the scepter is worth doing early, together, rather than individually and late.

   What this page deliberately leaves out

   Whether everyone genuinely needs their own scepter, as opposed to one person summoning. Our source says the item lets you teleport; it does not say anything about summoning others, and we are not going to infer a mechanic from silence. Treat "one each" as the safe assumption and tell us if beta says otherwise.
